Soap-Sack Set

Say that three times fast. Seriously.

I had a lot of fun making this Bathtime Blossoms pattern from Fiber Trends. It was my first official lace project, and it was all for the April Showers -along over at get stitchy!. I'll probably try and make a few more projects for this -along, since it's only been active a week...

Here are both pieces individually:

And here is the set:

The whole thing took less than an entire ball of Dalegarn Stork cotton yarn, and it's really soft--pretty pleasant to work with. As part of finishing, I had to try and find a nice soap and a ribbon. The soap was the easy part--I purchased a lavender scented bar at the drugstore. Now, the ribbon, ha! the ribbon. It's amazing how difficult it was to find just a single length of ribbon in my house. Rummaging through the sewing room, I found what most likely amounts to miles of basting strips and elastic. And yet, no ribbon. But, I did find one. Eventually.

My grandmother was particularly pleased with the gift, albeit a little flabbergasted by the concept of a lacy washcloth. As expected, it will become a decorative feature somewhere in her house, rather than a functional object. But that's alright.

The coming days will bring the return of the long absent tricorn hat project. It has actually been felted! I won't give away anymore details...there will be pictures once it's dry.

.....It's so cool!

I tried saying it fast three times and all I could manage was soak sap set.

It's really very beautiful. So dainty and feminine.
