And talk about an awesome group of people...I think some of the best conversations occur at a gathering like that--nice, relaxed, where everyone has a shared passion for something. In this case, knitting. There was a lot of knitting going on, of course, but some of us did rip.
I ripped a partial sweater that my mother had been working on years and years ago (she couldn't remember where she left off, and it's a fairly complicated pattern, as you can see in the photo), and a scarf I'd made for my sister but was too itchy for either of us to wear.
Here's the sweater before (gorgeous work on my mother's part) and after:
I believe, if this yarn finds itself appropriated into my stash (ahem), it has expressed an interest in possibly becoming a Central Park Hoodie....It was kind of crazy, ripping this thing out. You could see clouds of dust emanating from every ripped row, and there were little rainbow tweedy bits flying all over the place.
Here's the scarf I ripped (one ball of Manos del Uruguay) and the scarf I replaced it with back in January, since I couldn't just take my sister's scarf...It's two balls of Uruguay Chunky from Queensland Collection.

The blue scarf is morphing into a Cloud Bolero. It's already mostly done, actually. I have about 3 pattern repeats before I bind off (woot).
And here is a final picture of the party, courtesy of Becky, on the far right. Laura is in the middle, and I'm the crazy, squinty one on the left. This is why I want to be a photographer, so I can be behind the camera. Behind.

That was a good party. I'm all for doing that on a regular basis.....
On a side note, get Stitchy! held a scavenger hunt, and I decided to go ahead and do it. I turned in my answers about two hours before the deadline....And I actually won third prize! A set of four uber nifty get Stitchy! stitch markers will very soon be mine-all-mine.
Special thanks to the get Stitchy! team for providing some fun entertainment, and congratulations to the other winners and participants!

Egad, I have about four chins in that photo. "
It IS such a blast to get together with the knitster sisters. I find it both theraputic and a hoot!
Although, if Jesse (Terry's son) needs therapy after overhearing some of our conversations, I think we should set up some sort of fund.
:-)
And I definitely second the motion that we do it more often.
